Paul has evolved in his writing with each book. I could not put this book down. I was not familiar with this case but purchased the book because of the writer. I felt I was sitting at the trial and grew to know the victims. Their loss is our loss. Paul, you bring a new and fresh perspective to the world of victims of murder and our responsibility to them. Possibly as a result of your influence, trials will refer to the victims by name rather than exalting the offender. I'm waiting for the next book with bated breath! A must-read. Sorry, I could only give 5 stars.

I have read all of Paul Sanders's books. I just finished this one. What a powerful story! I couldn’t put it down once I got started. This book explains one of the many aspects a person goes through when becoming a juror. You really begin to understand the importance of jury duty beyond just showing up with your summons. I look forward to much more from this author.

Paul Sanders writes a deeply disturbing, honest book on an urgent topic of importance: domestic violence. Sanders is a brilliant writer. I plan to read all of his books. Everyone should read this book. It raises vital questions about safety and the responsibilities of parents, neighbors, cities, and nations. Addressing domestic violence and protecting those who are vulnerable should be a top priority.

This had me in tears. Abuse is abuse, no matter what kind. In a child's eyes, it's all the same. I grew up with abuse too. all kinds—verbal, physical, sexual—I was there in this story. I knew the feelings; no one believed you, and back in those days, no one talked about it ever. If it was brought up, it was swept under the rug. I'm glad they understand child abuse these days. This story was running through my veins like I was there. Because I was just in a different house with different parents.

I "met" Paul through his writings on criminal trials; he was a juror on one of them and later wrote a book about it and his experience. Since then, he has attended another trial, written about it- and then attended this one. I was given bits and pieces during the actual trial, knowing the book would be coming out, and I waited on pins and needles for its release. This is one of those books I keep looking to see "how much I have left," as I never want it to end. I felt like I was in the courtroom while I read it; you can tell he was there, and his observations are very interesting—who the jurors were, how the murderer acted, the evidence presented—I could go on and on. The minor details made this case interesting. My ONLY negative thought is that the murderer did not get the death penalty, but I don't think that was Mr. Sanders's fault :) I enjoyed this book immensely and am only disappointed that it will take him another trial and more time to write another one.
